New Patient Center

Thank you for your interest in our office. If you are here, you are probably looking for a meaningful way to improve your health. We appreciate the trust you have put in us to help you with any health related issues, and hope to always justify this trust by providing you with meaningful results.

As a practicing Chiropractor with over 36 years of experience in the field, we have found that the patients who get the best results are the ones who are willing to follow our recommendations. This is very difficult for some people who are not willing to make the effort. The patients whom are able to get the maximum improvements to their health will answer yes to the following three question.

  1. Is your health among one of the most important things in the world to you?
  2. Do you feel the procedures of this office will likely improve your health?
  3. If we ask you to make life style adjustments, will you cooperate?

If you are ready to say “Yes!”, then we are ready to help!

Our goal is to help create a life changing experience so you not only have an amelioration of your symptoms but also become perceptively healthier. This requires an undeniable change to the way you have been living up to this point.

Sugar and Gluten are the biggest detriment to your health

Everyone can agree that sugar is not necessary for health. Most everyone can agree that it is bad for you in large quantities. What they can’t agree is, what is considered a large quantity?, and what is a reasonable amount? Our position is that sugar is an addictive poison and should be avoided at all costs. Furthermore, wheat and simple starches, which convert to sugar and contain gluten, should also be avoided. This is because 12% of the population reacts violently to gluten, while many others suffer from a less severe negative reaction.

As bad as cigarettes are, sugar and gluten have emerged as our greatest public health threat. Your sugar levels, and indirectly your insulin levels can have a strongly adverse effect on you and your health. An in-depth, detailed writing on the issues with gluten are covered in a book called “Wheat Belly” by Davis.

Importance of Exercise

Additionally, it is important to exercise every week. While there are an overwhelming number of fitness guides, books, videos, and trends telling you how to exercise properly, we have found that by eating properly and understanding how to exercise properly, you can do approximately 15 minutes of exercise a week to maintain a high level of fitness. This 15 minutes a week is only possible after understanding how to properly do specific exercises that will maximize your results. You may think it sounds absurd or unbelievable, but we practice what we preach. Dr. Lavitan and his family follow the recommended exercise plans that are discussed in detail in the book “Body by Science,” by McGuff and also see a Body by Science certified personal trainer.

If you have interest in learning more about the Body by Science exercises, ask us about it, and we can help answer any questions you may have to get you on your way.

FAQ

1. What is different about your approach?

We treat the whole person. Although, medicine uses the phrase healthcare, in truth, it is usually a form of disease management. Medicine tries to normalize vital signs.

In contrast, we trying correct your physiology, so your body can cure itself. In our office, there are 2 clinicians and multiple degrees. It is not uncommon, for a person with a musculoskeletal complaint, to receive nutritional advice, that makes all the difference in the world. To our knowledge, we were the 1st facility in New Jersey, to have chiropractic, physical therapy, acupuncture, and nutrition, in the same office.

2. Why should we trust you?

We’ve been in practice over a combined 50 years. In that time, we have studied extensively and have made continuing education permanent part of our lives. Just taking seminars for instance, we have attended many times the requirements. Also by having multiple degrees, and the ability to consult with each other, we can freely choose what is most effective for the patient.

3. How long will it take and how much will it cost?

If you have insurance coverage, it is possible your care may question a little or nothing. Unfortunately, that is a small minority of patients. For the average patient, $60 a visit, is the typical expense. For those seeking symptomatic relief, a month to 6 weeks care, at least for musculoskeletal complaints is typical. In that time, patients are usually seen to 3 times a week, until symptomatically stable, and then at a diminished schedule.

Finally, most patients no longer have, their chief complaint. At that time, they can dismiss themselves from the practice, or begin to work on higher levels of wellness.

4. Do you treat the symptom or are you interested in wellness?

Whether we work on symptoms or wellness, is strictly up to the patient. When it comes to patient’s acceptance, we have a saying. “Tell them what they need and give them what they want gladly.” We practice wellness personally, and on many of our patients. We don’t believe in any pressure, and is up to the patient when they want care to begin, and how much they want to receive.

5. Do I have to keep coming for ever?

Please reread the first 4 questions.

6. Am I covered under my insurance?

We participate in many if not most of the insurance plans. Whatever your medical insurance is, we will attempt to help you utilize it. Additionally, we will tell you what products and services are outside your coverage.
