The 10 Commandments of Health

1. Most people consider health their number one priority…unfortunately their life style is not consistent with this belief. Most decisions are driven by emotion and then later rationalized. Many choices are based on immediate gratification rather than long term consequences.

2. Whole industries are designed to seem like they care about your health. They don’t…they really care about their bottom line. Even their names are deceptive. “Health” insurance pays off when your “ill”, “life” insurance is redeemed at “death”. “Health care” is in America, is more about “disease management” and, there is nothing “hospitable” about a hospital.

3. Doctor comes from the Latin word “doctoris” meaning teacher. When was the last time a doctor actually tried teaching you how to restore or maintain health?

4. Humans are built for survival not truth. Truth requires unbiased deliberation. Most people are not capable of this. Stupidity although not a crime, may be punishable by death. Violation of natural law ultimately results in a penalty.

5. The purpose of DNA, our primal blueprint, is to assure it’s own survival. It shapes our perceptions, biases, and choices. Genes can be turned on and off by our behavior. What we do to them is inheritable, and is the basis of epigenetics, the newest branch of genetics which suggests actions such as thinking, moving and eating influence the turning on and off of genes. The implication for your health cannot be overemphasized.

6. Popular trends to achieve health and fitness through fast, violent, and repetitive exercise with insufficient recover time will cause illness and injury. Episodic exercise of controlled, near maximum contractions of muscles, for relatively short periods coupled with sufficient time for repair, will help one reach high levels of health and fitness.

7. Carbohydrates in general and wheat in particular, limit quality and longevity of life, and arguably create the basis for controlling all other addictions. We have no requirement for carbohydrates.

8. One of the most difficult challenges is getting someone to understand something, when his livelihood depends on him not understanding it. Whole industries such as pharmaceuticals, insurance, medicine, education, big agriculture, government “experts”, sports, exercise, vitamin and health food manufacturers have a vested interest in the status quo, rather than improving your health.

9. The bottom line…either think clearly and objectively and stay healthy, or be the lawful prey of the sickness and death industry. You must be well informed and attentive about your health…nobody else can or will assume that responsibility.

    I finally had an opportunity to visit and navigate your informative website, and I applaud its value as a health driven, patient oriented resource. Too often we are bombarded by healthcare practices focused more on promotion than education. I look forward to spending more time on your site. Perhaps over time you will consider introducing (when appropriate) additional multimedia aids such as audio/video, to further enhance the online experience and power of your message.
